ECO CHURCH
Eco Church at St John’s, Studley
St John’s has been awarded the Eco Church Bronze Award, recognising our commitment to caring for God’s creation and considering the environment across different areas of church life.
Eco Church is an A Rocha UK programme that helps churches take practical action to care for the climate and the natural world.
Our approach includes thinking about how we worship, how we use our building and land, how we support our community and how we can all make more sustainable choices in everyday life.
What we’ve done
As part of our Eco Church journey, we have been looking at ways to make positive changes across the church and wider community.
This includes:
Our building: looking at ways we can improve energy efficiency and manage our church buildings more sustainably.
Our land: considering how our outdoor spaces can support both people and nature.
Worship and teaching: including care for creation within worship, prayer and learning.
Community involvement: supporting and engaging with initiatives that benefit our local community and the wider environment.
Our everyday choices: encouraging members of the church community to think about practical ways they can live more sustainably.
We hope to add more updates here as our Eco Church work develops.
What we’re working towards
Receiving the Bronze Award is part of an ongoing journey rather than the end of it.
We want to continue looking for practical ways to reduce our environmental impact, care for the spaces around us and involve more people in creation care.
As new projects and opportunities develop, we will share updates here and through our church communications.
How you can get involved
Everyone can play a part in helping us care for creation.
You might be able to help with a church or community project, support work in our outdoor spaces, suggest an environmental initiative or simply make small changes in your own everyday life.
If you would like to get involved with our Eco Church work, please get in touch with us.
