Continuing Voices
A captivating programme of Baroque music by female composers, paired with striking new works for period instruments.
Wessex Baroque Collective and soprano Angela Hicks presents a compelling programme celebrating the music of women across the centuries. Featuring works by Baroque composers Francesca Caccini, Barbara Strozzi, Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre and Isabella Leonarda, alongside newly commissioned pieces for period instruments, this concert brings past and present into vivid dialogue.
Blending voice, violin, cello, lute and harpsichord, the ensemble offers an intimate and engaging performance, enriched by spoken insights that bring the music to life. From expressive cantatas to bold contemporary reimaginings, the programme explores themes of resilience, identity and creativity, highlighting the enduring relevance of women’s voices in music.

SUMMER FETE at St John's Studley
Join us for the St John's Church Summer Fête — a fun, family‑friendly afternoon to bring the whole community together and raise vital funds for the church.
There'll be a tasty barbecue, along with tea, coffee and biscuits served in the kitchen. Enjoy browsing our lovely range of stalls, including cakes, plants, tombola, raffle, jams & chutneys, children's books, jewellery and crafts.
